Releasing Bay salt Ritual for beginning of Spring to the tide of the Vernal equinox

This is a simple charm and spell wrapped in a Spring Imbolc to Equinox Ritual. In my practice I choose to honor both Crone Caileach and Maiden Brighid, in death of old to rebirth of new. The charm is set at the beginning of Spring or Imbolc. Then the spell is cat at the end of the tide or at the vernal equinox within ritual. This ritual, charm and spell can be adapted to reflect what is culturely appropriate, which should also include ancestral beings and language which dosent inculde Abrahamics no matter who you are. Abrahamics are anti nature and this is a Nature spell.

Needed;

  • 2 Bay leaves, preferably fresh at first, to represent earth and the first shoots of green to break through the Snow or frost of winter, heralding beginning of Spring or Imbolc (The leaves will dry out over the month for later burning)
  • Contrasting to green or black sharpie/marker
  • White or Red Candle
  • Optional snuff, to snuff candle flame
  • Fireproof bowl or Cauldron
  • Lighter or matches
  • Chalice/Cup or small bowl with Nectar of the Gots (Fruit juice/Seasonal or preserved from the last harvest is best, such as Grapes at Mabon) for grounding post Spell/Ritual work and representation of water/west/seersight/clairvoyance/pshycic ability
  • A compass or compass App. if one is unsure of their directions
  • 2 bowls of sea salt to represent the first plaid/tartan pattern which is the Cloak (Snow) of the Caileach, who is an ancestral Winter Crone/Gottess of Ethnic Europeans, Celtic pantheon. This can be adapted to any other type of salt (not all places experience winter as those closest to either poles do) and to be deity specific to ones ethnicity. Ie Black salt to represent an ancestral Gottess of wisdom with African or Hindu nature based ancestral venteration as example. In this the Bay laurel which quite symbolic to the Ethnically European race can be substituted for leaves of other Botany of clearing/releasing that can be burned safely

Note on directions in the Southern hemisphere;

The act of casting in the movement of/within a circle) mimics the sun, and its path. Which is why casting or circle casting starts in the East where the sun rises and continues to follow its direction through the sky, to the west (Sunwise) Regardless from where the hemisphere one is in, (due to the spatial relationship between the Sun and the Earth) the sun always rises in the East and sets in the West. East is associated with Got/Masculine energy/ancestors and West is associated with Gottess/Feminine energy/ancestors.

Beginning Directions;

  • At the beinning of the season of Imbolc (Ethnically European term for beginning of Spring/marker) Place two small clear bowls or cups full of sea salt. Place one in the east and one in the west on either altar or sacred space, that wont be disturbed for the tide of Imbolc/just over a month. Depending on location of one’s bed one can even place one on either side of the bed on the side tables or even on the mantle or shelf in the bathroom in the aforementioned directions.

At end of the Imbolc/Spring beginning tide/At Spring or Vernal equinox tide;

  • At the end of Imbolc/Spring and beginning of Eostre (Eostre tide is the Midspring Vernal equinnox for ethnically European folk) If bay salt were not placed on an altar, set up a sacred space be it altar or a flat surface to work on.
  • Place marker to the east to represent thought/creativity/air.
  • Place lighter or matches andcandle to the South if you are in the Northern hemisphere (fire/transformation) place in North if you are in the Southern hemisphere.
  • Place bayleaf to North if you are in the Northern hemisphere (earth/prosperity/wisdom/vegetation) place in South if you are in the Southern hemisphere.
  • Place chalice or cup of nectar to the west/water/emotion/psychic ability/inuition.
  • Place heat proof bowl in the centre (Koad to us who are ethniclly Druid)
  • Take 9 or 13 deep breaths and center emotions/thoughts.
  • Bring about the intention/object/person to release.
  • When intention is clear as a clear image (can be as words) light the candle.
  • Write down things to release, or let go onto the bay leaves, keeping stems in tact. Things can even include people/relationships etc.
  • Stare into the flame, entering into a trance state.
  • Light up each leaf, one at a time, allowing flames to get close before popping into the centre heatproof dish or cauldron.
  • As the leaves burn visualize or the things to release, the written words or things felt. Visualize these things being burnt away and being transformed to ash.
  • Drink the nectar to close the ritual/spell to ground. Give thanks to the your ancestral Gottess of Spring who for me is Brighid, namesake of the ethnically Brittish folk and Britain/Brigantia itself, along with being the Daughter of the Celtic Queen of Faerys/Sidhe, the Morrigan.
  • Hold space for the candle burning flame, for as long as it feels necessary, before snuffing out.
  • Dispose the ashes and salt, back to the earth or even a potted plant, releasing connection to them for good and allowing their energy to be transmuted or reborn into something else, the earth sees fit.
  • Take deep breaths and exhale any tensions. It is also best to think of what you would like in place of the void left from releaseing the old. Try to avoid replaceing the void with the same old thing out of habit. Replace the old with something new, which is wanted. If unsure of what to do with the new space created by the void, play some tunes, medle with some crafting/art and let the immagination drift for new possiblities/inspiration (Awen to us ethnic Druids).

The bay laurel is sacred to the Nymph Daphne who was preserved by becoming a Bay laurel tree upon her wish being granted by a river Got. The laurel is also sacred to Apollo in by way of crown to counterbalance/banish his bad behaviour. Reresenting Honor and Valour in place of dishonor and cowardess.

Salt is a also a cleanser physically and metaphysically, May the salt used not only represent snow or chosen matter but also cleanse the energy of home and hearth from any unwanted currents/intentions.

Other personalizations;

  • Always use ancestral dieties and elements appropriate for your culture (Not mixed – mixed result in mixed results and sometimes backfiring)
  • Never include Abrahamic/Semetic representations, at the centre they are anti nature and this is nature veneration magick.
  • Adapt into the language of your ethnos/it is one of the ways your ancestors and ancestral beings, recocnize you.
  • Always, always be careful what you wish for.
  • Make sure intentions marry with inner or true desires.
  • Practicing nature magick does not make one witch or druid.
  • Both terms Druid, and Witch are ethnically European ones, as example witch is of Anglo (Germanic) origin pertaining to ‘White’ wise worker and Druids are of Celtic race/bloodlines. Both paths require immense study and practice alone, along with talent in the areeas of nature magick. Not everyone in the the European race is capable of such levels and bloodlines carry weight of ones ability. That said anybody can practice nature magick and its a great way to tune in to the seasonal flows and something greater than self, Nature. Across different cultures there are the equivilent of European wise workers including the Wu in China, who went through their own burning times upon the hands of invading Bhuddist monks who originated from India/Bhudism is not ethnically Chinese at all! Always respect other cultures and your own by preserving the correct terms and avoid diversity destruction by painting all magic workers as shamans or witches. Each culture including European and the variants within have an interest in preserving ancestral/nature based veneration to continue their rites to exist as a race and to live amongst their cultural comforts.
