Diy altar setup using a bookshelf and index drawers…

…as an basic altar set up with a 1’m x 150cm high bookshelf, 4 adjustable shelves, index file drawers and a shadow box turned to symbolize air (swords). I will be adding sigils, painting the new altar and so forth, sharing the updates as I go along. This is also a space wherein I store all my vases, candles and what not – everything needed for the craft in one place, also refer to the dusk shots to see by evenings light. From the Chapter ‘Altars and Apothecary’
What I used;

- 4 adjustable shelves
- Index file drawers
- A shadow box turned to symbolize air (swords) replacing hanging rope with a short fallen branch

Directions;
- Think about the space used and storage of items and adjust the shelves accordingly
- Add index card drawers to a shelf and a couple on top
- Measure a plank of wood to cover the 2 top drawers and trim down (making a bridge)
- Place over the 2 top drawers with space between as required for shelf width
- Add a shadow box
- My shadow box has a golden rod (painted fallen branch) fed through the top to symbolize the element air (swords house of)
- Line the top of altar with runners
- Add matches to pockets of runner on one side and deck of current using tarot cards to the other
- Set up basic altar charms to top (knife, censer, plate, bowl, current candles/holders with salt on the bottom, flowers and bell)
